Marjorie "Marney" Lammers, 79

Marjorie Alice (Nelson) Lammers, 79, passed away Tuesday, May 4th at the Woodbury Health Care Center in Woodbury, MN.

Marney was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert (Bert) and Alice Nelson and her brother, Charles (Chuck) Nelson, and is survived by her children, Sarah McNulty of Bloomington, John & Debbie Lammers of Lake Elmo, and Susan Somers of Lake Elmo; 8 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Taylor & Cameron, Andrew, Alyssa, & Nicole, and Tyson, Nathan, & Justin; sister-in-law Lisa Nelson, brothers-in-law Wesley (Anna) Lammers & Randy (Sue) Lammers; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Marney was born on July 7th, 1941 in New Ulm, MN. She was raised in Fairfax, MN where she met her best friend and love of her life, Benjamin "Ben" Lammers. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1959. She and Ben were married in Fairfax on September 7th, 1963 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Ben's career took the family to Sioux Falls, SD, Irvine, CA, Highlands Ranch, CO, and eventually back to Minnesota in 1991. Ben and Marney made dear friends every step of the way.

Marney loved opening their home to friends and family, hosting countless family gatherings, dinners, parties, and showers, always making everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. She enjoyed cooking and baking--her chocolate chip cookies, of course, deserving special mention. She and Ben sang in the Wooddale Church choir for over 20 years where they made many lifelong friends.

She never met a stranger, befriended those who didn't have many friends, was everyone's greatest fan, and was incredibly good-natured, slightly mischievous, and most definitely transparent. She magically transformed a house into a warm and loving home, generously gave thoughtful and beautiful gifts, and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.

Truly, we lost Marney when we lost Ben. Although we enjoyed moments when the Marney we all knew and loved would make a brief appearance in her final years, her light had gone out. We are so happy that she is with him once again, as well as so many of her loved ones who have gone before her. A special thanks to the staff at the Woodbury Health Care Center for the loving care and kindness they showed to her.

A graveside service is planned for family and close friends on July 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Ridgely; 72404 County Road 30; Fairfax, MN 55332.
