Juan Carlos Castro Rehbein

Juan Carlos Castro Rehbein was born on June 5, 1971 in Puerto Montt, Chile.  He passed away on March 7, 2023 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 51 years old.  He was a loved father, partner, and friend.

Juan Carlos attended primary school in Chiloe, Chile.  He went on to study civil engineering at the University of Concepcion in Chile and moved to Minnesota in 2000 to study an MBA at the University of St. Thomas.  He worked for Bechtel on multiple projects in Chile over the course of his career and was working for Bechtel in Houston at the time of his passing.  He was a proud Chilean who loved the outdoors, fly-fishing, hunting, cooking and eating with friends, and spending time with his daughter Rocio and sons Peter and Thomas.  He enjoyed outdoor sports, travelling, his compatriots, and working with his friends and co-workers at Bechtel.  His good humor, adventurous spirit, and kindness will be deeply missed.

Juan Carlos leaves behind his children, Rocio (27) of Chile and Peter (12) and Thomas (9) of Minnesota; the mother of his kids and life partner Kirsten; extended Koll family; his niece Lichi, nephew Joaquin, and sister-in-law Lighya of Chile; cousins Ximena, Dario, Matias, Andres, and Alejandro of Chile; Uncle Tio Fernando (Martita) and many beloved friends.

Juan Carlos joins his mother, Marcia Rehbein Felmer, in Heaven.

A visitation will be held on Saturday May 13, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s Church, 510 Hall Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55107, followed by a funeral beginning at 11:00 AM.  Luncheon to follow at another location.
