Bruce Maurice Tankson was born on November 3, 1967 to Patricia Ann Watkins Bruce was adopted-by the late John Lewis Tankson. Bruce was called home to rest on May 1st of 2023.

Bruce was raised in Chicago. He was the eldest of six children: two boys and four girls. Bruce went to Fenger Academy High school in Chicago, IL. He studied at Academy of Art University. Bruce was so gifted and talented. He taught himself how to sew at a very young age, when he was in high school. Bruce went on to Create Many Designs under his business where he was CEO: BMauri Dzignz.

Bruce also had another talent and that was being a DJ. Spinning Jams on a turntable. Bruce loved to DJ. He was the life of the parties. In fact, Bruce was so passionate about being a DJ, he saved up all of his money to buy his own equipment. Bruce was so good at what he did that his friends wanted him to teach them how to be a DJ. Bruce had a love for the ladies, as being a designer and DJ brought him around the “in” crowd. His conversations could spark minds. Bruce was a spiritual person with family values and loved a good cookout.

Bruce moved to Madison, Wisconsin where he met the mother of his daughter. They had a daughter named Tyler Hatter. Bruce loved being a Father/Son/Brother/Uncle/Cousin and a friend. Bruce was the one person to bring all of the family members together. He created the Brent and Youngblood-Rupert/Austin/smith page on Facebook.

Bruce Maurice Tankson was preceded In death by his grandmothers, Canary Austin and Tressie Tankson-Moore; grandfather, Fred Carter; adopted father, John Lewis Tankson; sister, Patrice Tankson; nephews, Deshawn John Harden, Anthony Grier Jr; and niece, Johnetta Denise Tankson.

Bruce Maurice Tankson leaves behind his mother, Patricia Ann Watkins; brother, Andre Tankson; sisters, Carla Tankson, Tressie Tankson-Harden (brother-in-law David Harden), Leslie Scott; daughter Tyler Hatter; grandchildren, Josiah Hatter, Genisys Tibbs, Isaiah Hatter; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews and other family and friends.

BMauri’s Final Fashion Show: A Celebration of His Life and Visitation will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 7th at Simple Traditions by Bradshaw, 671 South Snelling Ave., Saint Paul, Minnesota 55116.
