"Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day."
William "George" Tester Jr. was born on October 23, 1952, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He was one of eleven children in a large and loving family, where the values of loyalty, perseverance, and hard work were deeply rooted.
George answered the call to serve his country with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps. His time in uniform reflected the steadfast dedication, integrity, and strength of character that would define his life.
After completing his military service, George began his professional career in Michigan before returning home to Minnesota. Over the next four decades, he built a respected career as a Chief Engineer & Boiler Inspector/Operator, known for his skill, reliability, and leadership. His colleagues and friends admired him for his work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Outside of his service and profession, George found peace and fulfillment in life's simple joys. He loved to fish, finding calm and reflection on the water. A lifelong reader, he proudly completed every Louis L'Amour novel-a nod to his adventurous spirit and love of the American West. George also expressed himself through music, often playing the harmonica, filling quiet spaces with melodies that reflected his soul.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Palma Marietta Berg, and his four children: Wil, Shawn, John, and Amber. His love, humor, and wisdom will remain forever in their hearts and in the memories of all who knew him.
George's life was one of service- to his country, his family, and his community. His legacy endures in the strength of those he leaves behind and in the example he set for future generations.
He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Family and friends are invited to honor the life and service of William George Tester Jr. on Friday, December 5, 2025 @ 2:00 PM.
