William Harold Lohman

Apr 12, 1951 — Oct 14, 2026

William Harold Lohman, 75, of Minneapolis MN, died peacefully on October 14 surrounded by family. Ferociously curious, he could only be satisfied by working a multitude of jobs simultaneously, changing them frequently. Some of his most important positions include Medical Consultant in Occupational Medicine at the MN Department of Labor and Industry, Director of the Occupational Medicine Residency program at Ramsey (now Regions) Hospital in St. Paul, Director of the Program in Public Health Medicine at the University of Minnesota, providing clinical care for people injured on the job, and most recently, developing an online certification process for respirator use. Equally important passions included traveling the world with family (a group that eventually grew to encompass 19 people), collecting early pulp and speculative fiction, visiting Madeline Island, and rooting for the Red Sox. Perhaps the boldest travel choice was taking his wife and children to Mongolia for his 50 th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Ann Dillon, his children Madeline and Judson Lohman, their spouses Brian Sofen and Sara Speelman, and his grandchildren, Eddie Sofen, Henry Sofen, Lily Lohman, Marley Lohman, and William Lohman.

A remembrance will be held on Saturday November 14 at 1 pm at Eddie Mandeville Chalet in Theodore Wirth Park (1301 Theodore Wirth Parkway Minneapolis, MN 55422).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve.
