Todd Michael Truax

Todd Michael Truax, 67, of Mound, MN passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2026 surrounded by his wife and children after a period of ill health. He was a Hastings man but lived the majority of his life in Mound, serving his community for 27 years as a police officer. He loved his family and followed Christ faithfully, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Todd's Christian faith was paramount in his life, especially demonstrated in the way he met people in their lives. Todd was known as someone people could turn to for honest counsel—about faith, life, or anything in between. He had a rare gift for getting straight to the heart of things, and meeting people right where they were. Together with his wife Kim, he raised their children in the Christian faith.

Todd began his career in law enforcement as a police officer in Prescott, Wisconsin. He joined Mound PD in 1985. Over the course of his career, he served as a patrolman, detective, police sergeant, and technical advisor. He graduated at the top of his class from the Southern Police Institute. He served on the Southwest Drug Task Force and was a D.A.R.E. officer. He deeply valued the brotherhood of law enforcement and retired in 2009 after a career dedicated to serving his community.

Todd cherished his family and they were a source of great pride for him. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Kim Truax; his children Molly Codding (Paul), Noah Truax (Lindsay), Kelly King (James), and Megan Petersen (Garrett); fourteen grandchildren; his sister Shari Hastings (Keith); his brother Caleb Truax, Jr. (Sandra Marie); his sister Amanda Truax (Tague); and his brother Dirk Truax.

Todd was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen "Kathy" Truax; his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Truax; his father, Caleb "Cabe" Truax, Sr.; and his stepmother, Joan Truax.

Because it was Todd’s hope in his final weeks to "make it to Christmas," the family will hold a funeral service for Todd during the Christmas season. The service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound, MN. Visitation before the service will be at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to keep Christmas in your heart, as Todd did, and to practice generosity year-round. Todd supported the charity Mercy Ships, which provides critical medical care to places around the world with little or no access to it.
