Richard "Richie" Nelson

Richie P. Nelson, 32 of Minneapolis left this life on December 23 at home. He had battled substance abuse several years. Richie grew up in Columbia Heights and enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and football. He loved to go fishing and the gentle waters of Ely Lake. A soft hearted soul, he was a talented artist and mechanic who could fix just about anything. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Olga Nyquist, and girlfriend, Sara. Survived by father, Arnold P. Nelson of Fridley; mother, Carrie D. Nelson of Minneapolis; sister, Dena Nelson of Berkeley, California; aunts, Wendy Shelley of Minneapolis, Gail Colon of Fridley; uncle, William Nelson of Arden Hills; Sage whom he loved as his own, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the dogs.
