Patricia Suzzette Juaire

April 3, 1937 — February 15, 2026

Patricia Scalze Juaire was born in St. Paul, MN on April 3, 1937. She was raised in the Railroad Island Italian neighborhood by her adoptive parents, Angelo and Mabel Scalze, alongside her three younger brothers. Later in life she enjoyed reconnecting with several members of her birth mother's family.

In her youth, Pat worked at The Neighborhood House in St. Paul where she was inspired to pursue college and enter the field of social work. Pat earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from St. Catherine University. She met Bernie while working at the Housing Authority in St. Paul. They married in 1963. Pat and Bernie built their family, and both pursued higher education, furthering their careers to help children and families.

Early in her career, Pat worked at the American Red Cross, answering the Emergency Social Services Crisis Line, and later as a social worker at the St. Paul location. She then worked for St. Paul Schools, spending many years at Como Elementary, Webster, and Randolph Heights before becoming the lead school social worker for the district. During this period, she completed her graduate coursework and earned a master's in social work from The Adler Institute. In 1999, she was awarded School Social Worker of the Year by the Minnesota School Social Workers Association. Pat continued her work at St. Paul Schools until she retired, greatly impacting many students and families, remaining in contact with several well after her retirement.

Pat enjoyed travelling, cooking, reading, and gardening. Her favorite pastime was spending time with many family members, friends, and neighbors, frequently sharing food and memories. Her husband, Bernie, passed away in 1996, and she remained living in their house in Roseville for the remainder of her life.

Pat passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026 at Region's Hospital in St. Paul, surrounded by loved ones. She is remembered by her children, grandchildren, friends, relatives, and former clients. A private interment service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A celebration of life gathering for friends and family will be planned for Spring 2026.
