Marie Burkman
Marie Burkman, born on April 1, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on June 15, 2026. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion to her family.
Marie later moved to Minnesota, where she married the love of her life, Roger. Together, they shared many wonderful years and enjoyed traveling before his passing.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger; her son David; and her mother, Edythe.
She is survived by her loving children, Dawn and Patrick.
Marie will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Nicole, Twyla (Tony), Westen (Selena), Michael, Josh, and Blake.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Madeline, Tristan, Kaitlynn, Isaac, Taylor, Zachary, Ben, and Jaxon, all of whom brought great joy to her life.
Marie was kindhearted, funny, and spunky. She had a gift for making those around her smile and was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved most.
She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marie enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, watching movies (Sound of Music), puzzles, eating pizza, singing in the church choir, going to Las Vegas with her daughter, creating arts and crafts, and making memories with her family.
Marie’s love, humor, and spirited personality will be remembered by all who knew her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
Her family will forever carry with them one of her favorite sayings: “I love you more.” It was a simple phrase that perfectly reflected the depth of her love.
Visitation held at 9:30AM, on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Simple Traditions (488 Humboldt Ave., St. Paul). Celebration of Life to follow at 10:30AM.
Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
