It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our wonderful sister, aunt, and friend, Marcia Dietz. They say that dynamite comes in small packages, and Marcia was no exception with her "fiercely independent" ways, and with her high energy, million watt smile, she lit up every room that she entered and was a solid shoulder to lean on for her nieces and nephews who loved her. She had the world's biggest heart, always understanding, and was the queen of "we listen and we don't judge". She was profoundly good, and was filled with joyous, child-like laughter that filled up the room and the hearts that occupied it. Marcia was an open communicator and expected others to be the same, sometimes shocking people with how open and honest she was. She was a child support officer and liaison for most of her career and was excellent at her job. She never had any of her own children, but had many nieces and nephews who loved her, and she said that was enough for her. In recent years, she battled cervical cancer and came out triumphant on the other side. Even if she didn't believe it at times, she was a force to be reckoned with.
A service will be held for her the last weekend in April at The Joint bar in Minneapolis, MN, where she was a beloved regular and found solace with her favorite group of people. They will also be planting a tree in memory of her and others from The Joint who have passed at a later date.
Thank you to everyone who loved her, especially her friend Cheri.....The family appreciates each and every one of you.
Easter is a time for new beginnings. Please try to use this time to start over with whatever you are struggling with, and please do it for Marcia. Reach out to a friend or family member that you have lost touch with, try getting sober. Do something fresh and new and that will be life changing for you. She would love that for you.
