Judy Dewar

April 2, 1949 — August 15, 2025

In loving memory of Judy Ann Dewar, who left us far too soon. We share the passing of our devoted mother who was born on April 2nd, 1949 in Oshkosh, WI to Bruce and Ruby (Brouillard) Dewar and passed away on August 15th, 2025 in Robbinsdale, MN. She was the oldest of three children.

Judy grew up in Perham, MN and graduated from Perham High School in 1967. She was a majorette in the high school marching band. Judy worked in the insurance business for ten years as an underwriter, district representative and sales. She contributed to the sales quota that earned Lutheran Brotherhood the "Agency of the Year" award. Her continued interest in helping people brought her to Moorhead State University where she graduated with honors (Cum Laude) in 1993 with a BA in Criminal Justice. She was a strong advocate for victims and vulnerable people of all ages. One of her most notable job experiences was being the Director and one of the founding members of the Safe Exchange program in Fergus Falls, MN in 1993. This program provided a safe space for children to be exchanged for visitation during challenging times for families such as separation, divorce or violence so the children would be prevented from being exposed to harmful conduct between parents and provided families a designated area for monitored visits. She also spent time as a Corrections Agent Intern, a volunteer victim's advocate for the Women's Crisis Center and as an intervention worker for the Ottertail County Criminal Justice Intervention Project.

One of Judy's favorite things to do was to have family get-togethers. She loved preparing very delicious food for her family and was also an extraordinary baker. She especially enjoyed making the holidays/birthdays special times for her grandchildren and children throughout their lives. She would decorate the home and make crafts that pertained to the event or time of year being celebrated. She was an exceptional crafter and had an extensive knowledge of how to make all kinds of arts/crafts. Judy especially loved to crochet. She spent a few years as an Avon sales representative and participated in Avon's President's Club which sharpened her already keen eye for style. She always looked fashionable! Judy also really loved music, reading, the outdoors and all the wildlife that came with it. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her two children, Holly Abram and Terry Abram; her two brothers, Jerry and Jeff (Cindy) Dewar; her grandchildren, Evan Abram and Eloise Abram; her aunt, Romaine/Maime Dehn; her uncle, Frank/Rocky (Karen) Stieg; and her nieces, Ali Schmitz, Eve Mann and Tressa Leaders.

Preceding Judy in death are her parents; Bruce and Ruby (Brouillard) Dewar; and her sister-in-law Connie Dewar (Jerry).

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor with details to be shared when arrangements are finalized.
