Johanna "Joanne" Gallagher passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.
Joanne was a devoted Catholic, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, godmother, and friend. She was born to Egbert VandenBosch and Dominga Zapata and was one of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Joseph, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Edmund. She is survived by her siblings Thomas, William, Diana, and Richard.
Joanne is deeply missed by her children Shannon (Bryan) Gruidl, Mike (Ana) Gallagher, Brennan (Peter) Lynn, and Casey Gallagher; and by her cherished grandchildren Ben, Lucas, and Jake Gruidl, McCoy and Aria Gallagher, and Michael and Charlie Lynn. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Faith was central to Joanne's life. She was a devoted member of both St. Matthew's Catholic Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in St. Paul. She lived her faith through acts of love, service, and her joyful spirit.
Joanne's life was filled with laughter and love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, thrift shopping, garage sailing, antiquing, gardening, journaling, crossword puzzles, Vikings football "with the girls", her beloved Boots and Buddy and reading the Sunday paper with a hot cup of coffee. She was known for hosting family holidays with her delicious cooking-especially her enchiladas and meatball soup. Her creativity will forever be remembered through her unique homemade Halloween costumes and handmade Christmas piñatas for her children, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed playing broom ball and softball, camping and cabin trips, attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events, singing dancing and catching occasional concert. Her big heart, warmth, humor, and beautiful smile and laugh will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. "Always"
