Jo Ann (Edelstein) Welfring Gruesner, age 69, passed peacefully after years of courage and resilience. Many hearts are broken, but there is comfort knowing she is finally free from suffering.
Jo Ann was a woman of quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep resolve. Though she often carried herself gently, there was an unmistakable fire within her. A spirit that could not be tamed. She was brave, loving, and fiercely devoted to her daughters, Sarah and Molly, who were the center of her world.
The last seven years brought challenges no one should have to endure, yet she met them with grace and perseverance. She taught those who loved her the meaning of strength, patience, and unconditional love.
Jo Ann will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh, comforting hugs, and of course, her humor. Her presence leaves an imprint that will never fade.
She is survived by her daughters, Sarah (Brad) and Molly (Ian); her brother, Jack (Cindy); her sister, Phyllis (Mick); and many loved ones who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Judy; her beloved older sister, Marti; and her younger brother, Mickey, who we trust were there to welcome her home and walk beside her into peace.
Rest beautifully, Joey. You will be missed forever and loved beyond measure.
A celebration of life will take place at a later time in Los Angeles. Memorial donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.
