Joan Marie (Hearnen) McCombs, born May 8th, 1956, passed peacefully on April 7th , 2026, leaving behind many who love her.
Joan, one of 11 children, chose a path of adventure her whole life and admitted she would not have changed any of the adventures life took her on. She was a woman dedicated to educating and supporting not only herself, but those she cared the most about.
Joan worked in various industries over her life, but her employment with the United States Railroad saw her achieve not only career success but also confirmed the intelligence and dedication that she showed in all areas of her life which she was able to share with others. Joan, an excellent cook, loved the Food Network and was also a football expert, especially when it came to the Minnesota Vikings.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Steven McCombs, parents Aaron and Elaine (Halvorson) Hearnen; and siblings; Mary Carey, Katherine Knutson, Michael Hearnen, Timothy Hearnen, Ann Hearnen and Steven Hearnen.
Joan is survived by siblings Susan Lindberg, Karen (Juan) Rivera, Laurie Koenig and Robert Hearnen.
Upon marrying Steven, Joan expanded her circle of loved family members with Steve's siblings- Roger (Judy) and Jon (Kelly), Steve's children - Paul, Michelle (Christopher) and Colleen (Brent), and grandchildren - Bradley, Brittany, Laynee and Aiden and many more loved ones including nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
A special thank you to the staff of M-Health Fairview Ridges Hospital for their kindness and care in her final days. We are truly thankful for the peace you afforded Joan and our family.
