Jill Marie Sizer

Jill Sizer was born on November 19, 1951, in Glencoe, Minnesota, to Richard and Florence Sizer. Born twelve weeks premature, Jill was not expected to survive to her first birthday. With the help of a very determined mother, she went on to prove everyone wrong, living a full and remarkable life.


She left us on August 22, 2026, at the age of 74.


Jill graduated from St. James High School in 1970 and, the following year, graduated from Mankato Commercial College of Excellence in the Study of Senior Accounting on December 3, 1971.


After moving to Minneapolis, Jill began a long and successful 45-year career as an accountant. She took great pride in her work and in the relationships she built along the way.


Jill had a deep appreciation for art and culture. She was an accomplished Sumi-e watercolor artist and was a member of the Minnesota Ming Chiao Chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America. Her love of art extended far beyond painting. She enjoyed literature, museums, the performing arts, and especially the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. She was an avid reader, and one of her favorite television shows was Murder, She Wrote, starring Angela Lansbury.


Jill loved to travel and explored several countries, as well as much of the United States. She was curious about the world and delighted in experiencing its art, history, culture, and people.


Jill also loved to cook and bake. She especially enjoyed preparing dishes inspired by her Norwegian heritage and took great interest in learning about her family's history.


But perhaps Jill's greatest gift was her ability to make and maintain friendships. She didn't simply have friends; she collected them. Jill actively cultivated an extraordinary number of relationships, investing time, attention, and genuine interest in the lives of others. She remembered the details of people's lives and their families, often knowing the small pieces of minutiae that others might easily forget. Her friends knew that when they talked with Jill, she was truly listening and truly cared.


Jill was especially known for remembering birthdays. She sent birthday cards to family and friends with remarkable consistency and seemed to have well over a hundred birthdays committed to memory. Those cards were a small but meaningful expression of the care she showed so generously throughout her life.


Her personal mantra was, "It is what it is," a simple phrase that reflected Jill's practical nature and her ability to accept life as it came.


Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Florence Sizer.


She is survived by her siblings, Mark Sizer, Amy Knuth, Beth Forsyth, John Sizer, and Joe Sizer; seven nephews; six nieces; and many cousins, as well as the countless friends whose lives she touched and whose lives were enriched by knowing her.


Jill leaves behind a legacy of friendship, creativity, and kindness. She will be remembered for her love of art and travel, her wonderful sense of connection to others, her remarkable memory, and, above all, for the time and care she gave to the people she loved.


A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
