Jean Hudak-Johnson, age 72 of Oakdale, MN passed away on February 27, 2026. She was surrounded with love in her last days by those who loved her most.
Jean Marie Hudak was born on March 15, 1953 in St. Paul, MN. She grew up in Maplewood, MN and graduated from North High School in North St. Paul, MN. Jean went to the University of Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor's in Social Work.
Jean's love of the ocean drew her to Florida where she enjoyed sailing, teaching children, and warm winters at the beach. Her passion for teaching and caring for others expanded with the birth of her children, Josh and Bri. She was the den mom for scouts, the sports mom, the concert mom, and the kind of mom who loved her children fiercely.
The only thing Jean loved more than being a mom was becoming a grandma, affectionately known as Amma. Some of her happiest moments were with her grandson, whom she adored; all of the sleepovers, time spent playing games, and silliness brought her immense joy.
Jean is survived by her children, Josh (Katie) and Bri; her grandson, Zach; her best friend from childhood, Ruth; and the many cousins she spoke of fondly. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Irene Hudak, and she is surely enjoying time catching up with them and playing with her beloved dogs.
Her life was filled with devotion to her family and a love of reading, puzzles of any kind, baking, gardening, and finding the best shells on the beach.
Jean is remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and warm smile. Her legacy lives on through her family and the countless memories she created. She will be deeply missed, and though she may be gone from our sight, she will always be in our hearts.
There will be a private ceremony for family as we will sail with her one last time in the Gulf to rest forever in the place she loved the most.
Information on her Celebration of Life to follow.
