Ian was the kindest and most sarcastic man you ever met. His smile would light up any room, and he had the most mischievous giggle. He was a devoted family man and spent his life caring for others. Ian's family was the most important thing to him. He and Katrina worked hard to build a life he was proud of, celebrating 15 years of wedded shenanigans shortly before his death. Kevin was Ian's best friend; they spent countless hours hanging out in the backyard and grilling for the family. Austin was Ian's chosen son; Ian was so proud to be his dad. Ian and Katrina thrived on making every day with the girls an adventure. Whether it was taking them on vacation or just an adventure around the metro they were always on the go. He had a never ending love for animals and created quite the "zoo" at home. His children shared the love for Ian's hobbies, they spent countless hours tending to the lizards, playing with the dogs, fishing at the lock and dam or Lake Nokomis, riding bikes, geocaching, magnet fishing around town, hanging at the pool, and working in the garden. Ian's children were his life; he was their biggest supporter. He was the loudest hockey dad and the fun dad that took all the kids to the playground. Ian and his Dad Bob were the families pool keepers, keeping the family cool all summer long. Ian was the primary Caregiver to Sister Cindy. He was Uncle Melvin's favorite helper. He was the favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews; they all loved uncle "E".
Celebration of life will be held on Ian's birthday. Monday February 16th, 2026, 1-4pm at the Minneapolis Eagles 2507 E 25th Street. Please come ready to share your favorite memory of Ian.
