Helena Sylvester

Helena Sylvester of Saint Paul, formerly of Belmullet, Co. Mayo, Ireland passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026.

Helena was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Mary Sylvester, and by her siblings John, Robert, James, Willie, Peter, Mary Kate Fennessey, Sheila Ryan, and Margaret Crosby.

She is survived by her children, Timothy Sylvester and Margaret Hughes (Thomas) her grandchildren, Cody, Cory, and Carly Sylvester; and Matthew and Sean Hughes. Helena was the last surviving member of the Carey family born in Tallagh, Belmullet, County Mayo, Ireland.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026. Visitation at 9 am at Lumen Christi, Saint Paul, with Service to follow at 10 am. Immediately following services, please join family for a Reception at The Lexington, St. Paul. The Reception will be held in the Lincoln room (with elevator access). Parking is available directly behind the restaurant and at SW corner of Grand and Lexington Avenues.
