Gerard Huck

Huck, Gerard Michael "Jerry", 78, of Oakdale, Minnesota, passed on peacefully at home on November 14, 2025.

Born on May 30, 1947, Jerry grew up In Des Plaines, IL. He was known for his quick wit, great sense of humor, insatiable curiosity, and warm heart. Jerry was the youngest of six children born to Steve and Ruth Huck. He was fun loving and got into a lot of mischief as a child. He was known to his immediate family as the "Cafe Kid" on long family road trips and won over the hearts of many. He went to Notre Dame High school in Des Plaines and graduated from Maine West High School in 1965. Jerry was an intellect and loved to get into debates on just about any subject with family and friends.

Some of his interests were in race cars, airplanes, football, good food and an unquenchable sweet tooth (or just say "ice cream"), music; Aaron Copeland, Peter Gabriel, Leonard Cohen, to mention just a few, etymology (the meaning and use of words), and philosophy. Over the years his heart opened immensely to the injustices of the world and he became a passionate humanitarian. Both of his children carry this spirit of serving others in need.

Jerry loved his family. His wife Rose, and children Matthew and Meghan were his life. When Matthew and Meghan married Jessa and Brent he was extremely happy for them and proud of the wonderful people his children brought into the family. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were a very special source of love and pride for Jerry. He also had very close relationships with his siblings, nieces and nephews. He was always generous with his time, money, and expertise.

Jerry worked for Niedert Nationalease from 1974 until 1980 when he took a position with Leaseway Nationalease and the family moved to St. Paul, MN. Later in life he started Jerry's Handyman Service and worked on many projects large and small for homeowners. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and played softball for the red team. He belonged to the St. Luke's Men's group that turned into The Order of The Bricks. He remained part of the Bricks until his passing. He became a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church around 2010 and was on their maintenance committee for several years. Jerry made many friends in his career and in his personal life. He had a big smile and a big heart! He will be sorely missed and remembered with great fondness for his personality and character.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose (McMahon), children Matthew (Jessa) and Meghan (Brent) Constantini, grandchildren Teddy, Marco, Leah, Carmela; sisters Ellen Olech, Jan (Tom) Meurer, brother Bob (Debbie) Huck, and sister in law Mary Ann Raznak. Jerry had a large and beloved extended family of Hucks and McMahons. Preceded in death by parents Stephen Huck and Ruth (Donahue) Huck; step mother Verna Huck; brother, Stephen Huck and sister Paula Doyle; brother in laws Pat Doyle and Ron Olech.

We want to acknowledge with gratitude the wonderful care Jerry received by his doctors over the years, especially Dr. Laura Gusa and Dr. Anuja Sharma. You are the best! We'd also like to thank Allina Hospice especially Grace Miller, RN. You were such a comfort during Jerry's last hours!

A memorial service and luncheon will be held on June 27th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1500 Franklin Ave SE, in Minneapolis and forest burial at Better Place Forest in Scandia, Minnesota on June 28th at 2:30 PM.

Memorials to Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Heartland, or MPR (MN Public Radio) are preferred in lieu of flowers.
