August 1, 1949 - October 4, 2026
Frank James Nisbet, Jr., age 77, of Woodbury, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, following a two-year illness with cancer. Throughout his illness, Frank remained positive, demonstrating the strength, optimism, and sense of humor that defined his life.
Above all, Frank was a devoted family man. His greatest joy was the life he built with Pat, his beloved wife of 54 years, and the family they raised together. Frank is survived by Pat; his daughter, Alison (Schuyler) Gillespie; his son, Tyler (Liz) Nisbet; his two cherished granddaughters, Carlie and Raegen, who brought him immeasurable joy; his twin sister, Zoe (Devin) Hazenson, brother-in-law, Andre Lehmann; his sisters-in-law, Cindy Majeske and Mary (Mike) Pettis; and many beloved nieces and nephews, to whom he was a loving uncle and great-uncle.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Nisbet; parents-in-law, Howard and Shirley Carr; sister-in-law, Kathy Lehmann; brother-in-law, Jeff Majeske; and nephew, Paul Lehmann.
Frank was born on August 1, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He spent the majority of his professional career as a software engineer at Boston Scientific. Frank also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including several years in the reserves, retiring with the rank of First Lieutenant in 1986. Following his professional retirement, he continued giving back to his community by volunteering as a tax preparer through AARP and working during election seasons in Hennepin County.
Frank was truly the heart of his family, a constant source of love, laughter, and support. He had a fun-loving spirit and treasured the many wonderful friendships he enjoyed throughout his life. He loved sharing laughter and good times with those around him, whether spending a day on the lake, traveling, or simply enjoying one another’s company. He took great pride in being present for the important moments, big and small, in the lives of those he loved. One of his greatest joys was watching his granddaughters grow up, cheering them on at their many activities and events, and being part of the special moments in their lives. To his family, he was the center of their universe, and the love he gave so freely will remain with them always.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Christ Episcopal Church, 7305 Afton Road, Woodbury, MN 55125.
