Elenita C. Vidal, 78, of Inver Grove Heights, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Elenita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her memory will be cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Family was at the heart of everything she did-her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones. And even when they weren't nearby, she filled every conversation with stories about them. She was deeply proud of her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Professionally, Elenita worked for many years at West Publishing. After retiring, she continued to serve others as a patient care worker, finding joy and fulfillment in helping those in need. She had a curious and adventurous spirit-she traveled the world, nurtured plants with care, enjoyed drawing, and never turned down a fun night at the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enumeracio and Marciana Cailing; siblings Carlito Cailing, Ernesto Cailing, Isabelita Sitchon, and Ricardo Gonzales; her son, Jose Gutang; and grandson, Matthew Vidal.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Francis Joseph Vidal; her sister, Cora Cailing; her children: Jerusa Carswell (Kevin), Maria Vidal, John Vidal (Nieme), Joseph Vidal (Cheryl), and Irene Vidal (Aldo); along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Allina Hospice for helping us care for our mother at home, and to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and social workers at United Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Matthew Church on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass from 11:00 AM to noon.
We welcome all who wish to honor Elenita's life and legacy.
