Dorothy Mae Hubbard

Dorothy Mae Spaulding was born on Novem,ber 10, 1945, to James Montgomery Sr. and Hattie Mae Spaulding.

Dorothy graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1964. That same year, her daughter Jean Denise Spaulding, was born to Dorothy Spaulding and Harvey Witherspoon.

Dorothy loved her North side community and was deeply committed to supporting the people around her. She was involved in the early programming of The Way of Plymouth Avenue, where she supported youth and education. She was also instrumental in helping community members stay safe during the Plymouth Riots of 1967. Dorothy loved her brothers dearly, and she considered her community an extension of her family.

In 1965, Dorothy married Gerald E. Hubbard (the baddest guitar player in the Twin Cities). Their home became a gathering place for family and community. Through this union, Gerald E Hubbard Jr., was born in August 1965.

Dorothy worked for the supercomputer company Control Data Corporation from 196untiltl 1988, when the company closed its operations. Throughout her years there, she was frequently recognized for suggesting more efficient ways of operating. She enjoyed training others and successfully held a variety of positions within the company.

Dorothy was instrumental in helping establish the Northside Child Development Center, a childcare center created to serve Control Data Employees.

Dorothy was a member of Zion Baptist Church for many years, and a part of the historic community choir called Gospel Choirs United, directed by late Sam Davis.

Dorothy loved to travel with friends from Zion Baptist Church and Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. In her later years, her eyesight no longer allowed her to travel or play bingo, however she maintained many of her lifelong friendships she made along life's journey.

In 1989, Dorothy began working at United Plastics Group in New Hope, where she remained until her retirement. Dorothy was a natural leader and mentor. She was a woman of integrity with an exceptional work ethic. She instilled these values in those around her.

Dorothy Mae Spaulding will be remembered for her love of family, friends, and her joy of being in the community. We are grateful for the many lives she has touched.

And lets not forget it was said she kept a house so clean you could eat off the floors.

A Visitation will be held at 11:00 A.M. with a Celebration of Life following at 12:00P.M at Faith Tabernacle Gospel Fellowship 2025 4th St N Minneapolis, Mn 55411 on Thursday September 24, 2026.

The repast will be Thursday September 24, 2026 from 2:00P.M - 4:00 P.M at Sanctuary Covenant Church 2018 Aldrich Ave N Minneapolis, Mn 55411
