Donna Tomczak

Donna Tomczak, 91, of Fridley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 19,2026, after a brief illness.Donna was born on January 20, 1935, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to Edward and Morna (Rector) Fricke. Growing up, her family lived in several towns across Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota before settling in Battle Lake, Minnesota.After graduating from Battle Lake High School in 1953, Donna moved to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota, earning a degree in Psychology. While attending the U of M, Donna met her husband, Robert ("Bob") Tomczak. They were married in September 1957, and were partners for 47 years until his death in 2005.Donna worked for more than 30 years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, helping hundreds of people find employment and forming many lasting friendships. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, playing bridge, and reading. Donna was a fiercely independent woman who stood by her beliefs and spent many hours volunteering for causes she believed in. She was admired by many.Donna is remembered as a wonderful and generous wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by her children Rob (Karen), Mary Fitzimons (Pat), and Sue (Charlie Kusch), as well as her grandchildren, Jill Nelson (Michael), Alexa Bennett (fiancé Taylor Lovaas), Megan Hansen (Luke), John Fitzimons, Charlotte Kusch, Claire Kusch, and great-grandchildren, Brady and Alaina Nelson and Parker Hansen.

Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
