Demetrius Vincent Carter

January 25, 1976 — March 2, 2026

Demetrius Vincent Carter Sr, aged 50. Of Minneapolis, formerly Chicago, Illinois. Passed away March 2nd, 2026.

Demetrius Carter was a man with a caring heart. A man of abundance, hope and creativity, known for his outgoing spirit and warm smile. He brought life into everyone and thing he came across, and shined bright in every room his presence was graced. Even if you were a stranger, he'd make you feel like family. A man for the togetherness of family and union of love. A man of culture, humor and experience, and longtime lover of the Chicago Bears. Demetrius enjoyed painting, gaming, making delicious food and helping others. To know him was an honor.

Demetrius found love in Theresa Marie Dawson at age 12, where they'd later go on to raise 4 beautiful children. He later became a devoted grandfather to his 3 beautiful grandchildren and always showered them with endless love. Demetrius would go to meet Essence Franklin in 2010 and take on the father role to 3 children he considered his own.

Dedicating over a decade of his life to construction work, Demetrius had a passion for the

bettering of the world around him. There were very few things impossible for Demetrius.

Preceded in death by his parents Jeffrey Carter, Harriet Bingmon, and older brother Deprentice Carter.

Survived by his children, Paris Dawson, Dinetria Carter, Tashara Carter, and Demetrius Carter Jr.; and Grandchildren: Amara Carter, Shaniah Carter and Raeana Williams.
