Cecilia Joan Heimsness

Cecilia Joan Heimsness, affectionately known as 'Sis' or 'JoAnn' by family and friends, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at North Memorial Health - Robbinsdale Hospital.

Sis was born May 22, 1944, in Austin, Minnesota, to Loyl and Catherine (King) Heimsness.

JoAnn met the love of her life, Martha Downhour, and they were together for 44 years.

Sis was a hard worker her whole life, having worked in various factories, usher at the Metrodome, a Resident Manager/Desk Attendant for 28 years, and various other jobs.

She was an avid lover of softball and was one of the first to play girls softball in Austin, Minnesota. She was a superfan who was always watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Sis is survived by her significant other, Martha of St. Louis Park, brother, James (Teresa) of Oronoco, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Annette Belden and Marlene; brothers, Paul, Jerry, David, twins Thomas & Timothy, and Luke; and nephew, Douglas Belden.

Service will be at the grave site at Calvary Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota. Date is not yet confirmed.
