ST. PAUL - Carolyn Ann Verret, 85, a retired St. Mary's University of Minnesota assistant dean and vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minnesota, passed away on May 14th in St. Paul.
She was born in Louisiana and spent her professional life at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, where she will be remembered for the exceptional mentorship, she provided to her team and the next chapter of her working life was spent at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, where she was an associate dean for many years. After her retirement, she volunteered at Store to Door for several years.
Beyond her professional career, Carolyn's life was an example of one well-lived. Carolyn was an avid reader, and loved traveling in Europe with her husband Paul, sharing their adventures with numerous family members and friends, whose love for travel she inspired and cultivated. Shewas an avid journaler, meticulously keeping records of their explorations.
She was a great navigator, blessed with a wonderful sense of direction, and knew her way around a map. She was also an avid hiker and birdwatcher along the Mississippi River.
Carolyn loved games that expanded the mind, including sudoku, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles and Wordle, and was a formidable tactical scrabble player.
Her inquisitive nature also led her into genealogy, where she excelled in tracking the past histories of both her and her husband's families, while savoring every moment of the present.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Verret, her parents Anthony DiMaggio Jr. and Mary (Musachia) DiMaggio, brother Anthony DiMaggio III and his wife, Betty.
She is survived by her brother's children, Marc DiMaggio (Debra) and Stefanie Gilheany (Kevin), 22 nieces and nephews on her husband's side of the family, and sister-in-law Lucienne (Verret) Miller of Madison, Tennessee.
Special thanks to all the staff who cared for Carolyn at the Episcopal Church Home of Minnesota.
