Arthur Merle Hamann

July 11, 1942 — June 3, 2026

Richfield

Arthur Merle Hamann was born in Northfield, MN to parents Milton and Edra Hamann.

At an early age, Art's "D" grade in comportment was applauded by grandfather proclaiming "This kid has spunk!" which we now know served him well his entire, storied life.

The family moved to Richfield where he graduated from Richfield High School - Class of 1960, retaining friends from that class throughout his life.

At seventeen, Art joined the Navy serving aboard the aircraft carrier "USS Independence" in the Mediterranean fleet. Perhaps this experience helped fuel his innate curiosity, sense of adventure and uncanny ability to fit in anywhere, and the social chameleon he would become.

Art's love of the game has been showcased throughout his entire life... in his love of golf and cards, his fascinating escapades, his indelible relationships and his many passions.

His gusto for life will always be contagious, his Art-isms unforgettable and his stories legendary!

Art asked to be dealt out of the game leaving on his own terms on June 3, 2026, amid a life brimming with the love and friendship of an amazing circle of friends, family and acquaintances.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Michele Johanson, sisters Norma Callahan and Jan Schlickenmeyer, and brother Keith Hamann.

He is survived by:

- His daughter Shari Jo Larson, sister Susan and brother-in-law Kirk Nelson, sister-in- law Cheri Hamann and forever friend Karen Eberle.

- Five grandchildren; Tara Molden, Brock Molden, Jessica Kraemer, Paige Larson, Spencer Larson.

- Great grand-son Trygg Floyd.

Too numerous to name are his close extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, and a wealth of close friendships.

By his own account, Art is on to his new adventure. Please join us with stories and laughter as we honor him.
